My_Destiny

Farrago and FarragoThis experimental novel was created for the lifedotetl.org.uk website as an exercise in writing for an HTML format with lots of graphics as devices for dividing the text into logical areas.
The original plan was to write 14 sections - Part 1a to Part 7b. And so the writer plundered an ideas file for bits and pieces and headed off into the unknown – pretty much standard operating procedure for a new work.
There was very little pre-planning. The writer just went wherever the narrative flow took him. Over a period of 5-6 weeks in 2001, a new world grew and acquired its own population and frame of logic. The work also grew to 20 sections with the addition of Parts 8a-9b and then linking sections 0 and 10, which expressed the spirit of the life.etl concept.
Looking back, the writer is pleased with how things went and frankly delighted that he has been able to consume a number of the gems which were lurking in his ideas file!
The novel follows the thoughts and adventures of 'The Writer' – journalist Marin Petronas, a published author who is now working for a provincial multi-media organization on the print side.
The newsroom is dominated by Pearson Day, who is universally known as The Feck after his most common expression of disgust. The Feck-Monster likes to be in charge and let everyone know it. He also has enemies in need of retribution.
The Writer finds himself drawn into the plans of his workmates and the deviousness of The Feck. He is also beset by the harassment of the Sentinel & Advertiser's electronic messaging system. He attempts to maintain his sanity by working everyday events into his writing and his personal themes for the workplace.
